The vision of the Limpopo Department of Safety, Security and Liaison is to have a safe and secure Limpopo. The mission of the Department is to intensify the fight against crime and corruption through an integrated approach, partnerships and effective oversight in the South African Police Service.

The Constitution mandates the Department to: monitor police conduct; oversee the effectiveness and efficiency of the police service, including receiving reports on the police service; promote good relations between the police and the community; assess the effectiveness of visible policing; and liaise with the Cabinet member responsible for policing with respect to crime and policing in the province.
