OverviewThe mission of the Northern Cape Department of Social Development is to ensure the provision of comprehensive social protection services against vulnerability and poverty within the constitutional and legislative framework, and create an enabling environment for sustainable development. The Department further aims to deliver integrated, sustainable and quality services, in partnership with all those committed to building a caring society.

In addition, the Department contributes to the realisation of some of the following government outcomes: improved quality basic education; a long and healthy life for all; citizens are safe and feel safe; decent employment through inclusive economic growth; a skilled and capable workforce to support an inclusive growth path; vibrant, equitable, sustainable rural communities contributing towards food security for all; sustainable human settlements and improved quality of household life; a responsive, accountable, effective and efficient local government system; and an efficient, effective and development-orientated public service, and an empowered, fair and inclusive citizenship.
