Overview

The mission of the Western Cape Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport is to encourage excellence and inclusiveness in sport and culture through the effective, efficient and sustainable use of its resources, and through creative partnerships with others. In moving to excellence, the Department will create the conditions for access and mass participation, talent identification and skills development.

The Department's strategic goals are: an effective, efficient, economical administrative service; the promotion, development and transformation of all cultural activities in the Western Cape in order to contribute towards nation-building, good governance, social and human capital development, and to contribute towards sustainable economic growth and opportunities; the development, transformation and promotion of sustainable library, information and archives services; and the initiation and support of socially inclusive sport and recreation structures and activities.
